Story or NPC blocker
Story Tree → current objective → location text → named NPC
Objectives usually supply the person, area and prerequisite action together.
Demo troubleshooting · tutorial and quest text checked
Stuck? Start with the symptom, then follow the check. Most early blockers are not solved by grinding more resources: a Story Tree prerequisite is missing, the wrong workstation is being used, or a quest item is going to the wrong person.
Story Tree → current objective → location text → named NPC
Objectives usually supply the person, area and prerequisite action together.
Building cost → recipe inputs → workstation → unlock technology
Do not stop after checking whether the bag contains a similarly named item.
Corpse skulls → grave steps → headstone and fence
Overall graveyard rating and one corpse’s rating ceiling are different questions.
Food → sleep → insanity → return to objective
Forcing more work while exhausted usually costs more time.
| I'm stuck because… | Check this first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| I don't know what to do next | Open the Story Tree first | Tasks are separated into story branches. Complete the currently visible objectives to reveal new nodes to the right instead of guessing which NPC matters. |
| I can't turn in the first Burial Certificate | Go to Herbert at the Crossroads first | The first explicit objective is Herbert, head of the guards. After that, visit the Head of the Village in the Village Tavern to collect the money and ask about fairies. If he is absent, the objective tells you to ask Januarius to call him. |
| The grave won't complete | Mark the plot at the graveyard blueprint desk | The tutorial order is: mark the grave, dig with the shovel, place the remains, bury them, then add a sign. Missing one step can leave the loop incomplete. |
| My maximum energy fell | Sleep and address insanity | Food and potions refill energy. Sleeping restores energy and will probably reduce insanity. Working while exhausted wastes more energy and raises insanity faster; insanity reduces maximum energy. |
| I can see a recipe but can't craft it | Check both technology and workstation | Most new items require the matching technology and the correct workstation. The technology page shows unlocks; the recipe page shows inputs, outputs and stations. |
| I don't have enough tech points | Do the matching activity instead of waiting | The tutorial says normal actions earn points, and studying new items at the Study Table can also award them. Red covers hand-crafting and materials, green covers nature; the first blue point comes from the Study Table in the Church basement. |
| Buying seeds did not advance the quest | Plant them and complete the crop step | Herm’s objective asks for 16–20 Wheat Seeds to be bought and grown in your garden. Keeping them in the bag—or pressing them into oil—does not complete that step. |
| I can't get a fish or find a fishing spot | Recover the rod from the twins first | The twins are south of the Village, across the bridge in Twins’ Land. The objective names two spots: left of the house at the Inquisition Base and beside the road to the Village. Bring the catch to Herm. |
| My graveyard rating isn't rising | Check corpse skulls, then grave furniture | The grave tutorial says the main way to raise the graveyard’s white-skull rating is grave decoration with more white-wreath value. Red-skull lines never score, but must still be filled before later white-skull lines can count. |
| Wood or bronze keeps blocking construction | Process only the next material batch | One Log becomes four Boards or two Short Logs; one Bronze Scrap can directly make one Bronze Nail. List the next workstation’s inputs before converting every raw material into the wrong intermediate. |
Mark, dig, bury and add the sign to receive the Burial Certificate.
Take the certificate to the guard captain at the Crossroads.
A later objective sends you to the Head of the Village for payment and fairy information.
Follow the objective and ask Januarius to call him.
