Graveyard Keeper 2 resources guide

Early Graveyard Keeper 2 resource management is not about filling every slot. Make each trip clear one bottleneck: cut wood for the next build, spend scrap on the nails you need, and use the first seed batch to establish a loop.

Scope: this is not a guessed resource map

Recipe quantities, stations and technology costs come from the current demo’s game files. Herm’s Wheat Seed and Bronze Scrap come from vendor data, and the 16–20 seed target comes from quest text. Field nodes are marked unverified when coordinates or gameplay evidence are missing.

Key early conversion chains

Wood processing

  • 1× Log → 4× Board · Sawhorse
  • 1× Log → 2× Short Log · Sawhorse
  • 1× Short Log → 1× Firewood · Chopping Spot

Cut only for the next workstation. Do not turn every log into one intermediate at once.

Bronze starter chain

  • 1× Bronze Scrap → 1× Bronze Nails · Wooden Anvil
  • 3× Bronze Scrap → 1× Bronze Ingot · Furnace I

Direct nails use less scrap. Enter the furnace chain only when a recipe actually needs an ingot.

Stone and clay

  • 2× Stone + 4× Wood wedge → 4× Piece of stone + 1× Piece of stone · Stonemason's Workbench
  • 2× Clay → 3× Clay Plate · Potter's Wheel

Pieces of Stone also consume Wood Wedges; Clay Plates begin at the Potter’s Wheel. Check the full input before gathering.

Food you can use early

  • 5× Brown Mushroom → 1× Baked mushrooms · Kitchen Oven
  • 1× River Fish 1 → 1× River fish fillet · Kitchen Table

Baked Mushrooms need five Brown Mushrooms and fuel. Fillets still require a fish and the matching cooking node.

Recommended first resource circuit

  1. 1

    Finish the opening objectives

Complete the first body, grave and burial-certificate loop. It naturally introduces the base and village.

  2. 2

    Gather wood near the base

Cut trees for Logs and pick up sticks. Unlock the Sawhorse, then process only the amount required by the next workstation.

  3. 3

    Clear two bottlenecks at Herm

The quest asks for 16–20 Wheat Seeds. Buy Bronze Scrap when nails or the furnace chain is the active blocker.

  4. 4

    Turn seeds into a loop

Unlock Gardening for 5 green points and build a Garden Bed. The first harvest matters because it makes food and later processing repeatable.

  5. 5

Branch into stone, clay or fishing

Follow the current objective: stone for grave furniture, clay for ceramics, fishing when food or Herm’s accepted goods justify it.

Four common resource mistakes

Turning every Log into Boards

Short Logs, Firewood and Wood Wedges use another branch. Keep some Logs uncut.

Pressing the first seeds into oil

Four Wheat Seeds make two Seed Oil, but doing so removes planting capacity.

Smelting all scrap into ingots

Bronze Nails can be made directly from scrap. Do not pay the fuel and conversion cost without an ingot target.

Copying locations from the first game

GK2 locations and progression need separate verification. An unfound node is a research gap, not a confirmed location.

Evidence and limits

  • Conversion ratios, stations and unlock technologies: the recipe and technology tables in the game files, with names taken from the game’s own text.
  • Herm’s tier-one stock and accepted goods: the vendor table in the game files.
  • Wheat Seed quantity and fishing hints: English quest text; the base-area wood hint comes from caption-checked opening gameplay.

Frequently asked questions

What should I make from wood first?
Unlock The Concept of Wood and the Sawhorse first. One Log becomes four Boards or two Short Logs. Check the next building before cutting the batch.
Where do I get Bronze Scrap?
The confirmed early repeatable entry is Herm's tier-one stock. One scrap makes one Bronze Nail at the Wooden Anvil; three scrap plus 10 fuel makes one Bronze Ingot in Furnace I.
How many Wheat Seeds should I buy?
The quest text asks you to buy 16–20 Wheat Seeds from Herm and plant them in the garden. Use the first batch to complete that objective and establish a crop loop, not for seed oil.
Why are exact stone and clay map locations missing?
The verified data confirms items, recipes and technologies but does not reliably reconstruct every field-node coordinate. This page labels the gap instead of copying locations from the first game.
