This is what Graveyard Keeper 1 players mean by the alchemy workbench: the Formulation Bench carries 36 recipes in this build — every fertilizer, candle, incense and embalming item, plus Paper glop. It burns no fuel, unlike the Distillation Cube next to it, and it is not where formulas are mixed: that is the Laboratory.

- The bench runs the 36 recipes listed below. A formula is something else: you put reagents into the Laboratory (Laboratory I or II) and it resolves them into Dream Dust, Lacquer, Paint or one of the potions. 6,960 reagent combinations are valid in this build; the full list is on the alchemy page.
- Do I need both the Formulation Bench and the Distillation Cube?
- They do different jobs and their recipe lists do not overlap. The bench is the no-fuel station (36 recipes: fertilizers, candles, incense, Paper glop, embalming fluids, organ work); the cube burns 20 Fuel per batch for Melted Fat, alcohol and Fragrance. Build the bench first — Melted Fat and Clay Plates are easier to get than Fuel.
- What does the Formulation Bench cost?
- 4× Wooden Plank + 5× Bronze Detail + 1× Polished Bronze. The bench itself unlocks with the Church Lighting I research (5 red / 10 green / 5 blue tech points); past that, the bronze chain is what gates it.
- What is the bench best used for first?
- Candles and incense are cheap, sellable and need Beeswax and Fragrance; the fertilizer line needs Peat and growth elixirs. Paper glop is the one that unlocks paper and therefore the whole writing chain.
